Note that you should check your sent messages to see if the mail was actually sent from your account. It is entirely possible to spoof a harvested email address in an email by forging some of the headers and using a cooperative relay. I was alerted to the problem due to the fact that I have some expired email addresses in my contacts list which resulted in a glut of bounces in my inbox the next morning. The most likely source of this is that my password was hacked once someone figured out my hotmail address was valid. Change your password and run the measures Brian suggests. Note that in order for the spywareremovaltookit to actually remove the problems it finds you'll need to pay the 29.95. Also the piniform ccleaner has a registry cleaner in the free version now, so you don't need to run cleanmypc unless you are really paranoid.
